Privacy Policy

Foundations First Education is a one-person business. I collect the smallest amount of information I need to schedule a consultation and teach your student, and I do not sell or share it.

The short version

  • I run no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. The blog page loads scripts from Kit and from Google reCAPTCHA so the subscribe box works and stays free of bot sign-ups; both may set cookies on that page. No other page on this site sets cookies.
  • The only information I receive is what you type into a form and send me.
  • That information goes to my own Google account and my own email inbox. It is not sold, rented, or shared for marketing.
  • You can ask me to delete it at any time and I will.

What I collect

Consultation request form. Student's first and last name, your email address, the student's grade level, the subjects you selected, anything you write in the message box, whether you indicated interest in sliding-scale rates, and your confirmation that you are the parent or legal guardian.

Blog subscription form. Your email address only. This form is handled by Kit, not by me directly, and you will be sent a confirmation email to click before anything is sent to you.

Automatically. No analytics package and no advertising pixel. The blog page loads Kit's script for the subscribe box and Google's reCAPTCHA to keep bots out of it. Both may set cookies on that page, and reCAPTCHA reads device and browsing signals to score whether a visitor is human. No other page sets cookies. My web host keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses, as nearly all web hosts do.

A note about the message box

Parents often want to explain a diagnosis, an evaluation, or a medical history. Please don't put that in the form. A message box on a website is not a secure channel, and health information deserves better handling than that. Tell me during the consultation call instead, where we can talk it through properly. If you have already sent something along those lines and would like it removed, email me and I will delete it.

Where it goes

When you submit the consultation form, it is sent to a Google Apps Script that I control. That script writes the submission to a Google Sheet in my Google Workspace account and emails a notification to my business address. No third-party form service or CRM is involved in that.

Blog subscriptions are handled separately, by Kit, which stores the email list and sends the posts. I do not keep a copy of the subscriber list anywhere else.

Three services are involved in working with me, and each has its own privacy policy:

  • Google. Stores the form submissions and my email. Google Privacy Policy
  • Setmore. Handles consultation scheduling. If you book a time, you provide your details to Setmore directly. Setmore Privacy Policy
  • Kit. Stores the blog mailing list and sends the posts. Kit Privacy Policy
  • Google reCAPTCHA. Screens the subscribe box for automated sign-ups. It runs only on the blog page and collects device and browsing signals to tell people from bots. Google Privacy Policy

Why I collect it

To reply to you, schedule a consultation, plan instruction for your student, and keep the records a small business needs to operate. If you asked about sliding-scale rates, I use that to prepare the right conversation. I do not use your information to build an advertising profile, and I do not send marketing email unless you subscribed to the blog, which you can leave at any time.

Students and children

This website is written for parents and guardians, not for children, and the consultation form requires you to confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian before it can be submitted. I do not knowingly collect information directly from a child. If a child has submitted the form without a parent's involvement, contact me and I will delete the record.

How long I keep it

Consultation requests from families who do not become clients are deleted within twelve months. Records for current and former students are kept for as long as I am working with the student and for three years afterward, so that I can answer questions about past instruction, then deleted. Blog subscriptions are kept in Kit until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the link at the bottom of any post I send.

Your choices

Email me at alissa@foundationsfirsted.com and I will, at your request:

  • Tell you what information about you and your student I hold
  • Send you a copy of it
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Delete it

I offer these regardless of whether a particular privacy law applies to a business my size. I aim to respond within thirty days.

Security

Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in a Google account protected by a strong password and two-factor authentication. I am one person, and I am the only one with access. No system is perfectly secure, and I would rather say so than promise otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how I handle information already collected, I will email the address you gave me rather than quietly updating this page.
